Monitoring of digitization

  • Digitization is the process of gradual switch-off of analogue terrestrial broadcasting and the transition to digital TV broadcasting (DVB-T), or any other forms of TV signal distribution (IPTV, cable, satellite).
  • This process results in changes in household TV equipment (DVD player, set-top boxes, satellites, new TV set) as well as changes in the division of TV market (a larger number of channels received).
  • Year 2000 marked the beginning of experimental DVB-T in Prague. In 2005, the regular broadcast of digital terrestrial television in multiplex A was launched. In September 2007, analogue TV broadcasting in region of Domažlice was switched off. In autumn 2008, the first significant analogue switch-over occurred.
  • Monitoring of the transition to DVB is outlined in the PEM III. for regions where the analogue switch-over has been proceeding since 2008.
  • The goal is to enhance knowledge about TV population in these regions, i.e. awareness of the process, information, concerns, expectations and responses to changes related to entire process.
  • date of switch off was set up by 2011, November 11.
